Begin Planning your transfer to the U:
Probably the most important thing to consider is how to pay for your degree. Don’t hesitate to start looking up scholarships and fill out a FAFSA. Getting the FAFSA in sooner rather than later can secure other types of aid and is free to submit (or resubmit to a new college if you’ve you already filled one out.)
Visit the U of U FAFSA page. The financial aid office is happy to answer any questions regarding this very important step.
How do I add a college to my FAFSA? (provided by https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/help/how-add-college)
- Log In to your FAFSA
- Click Make Corrections and navigate to the School Selection Page
- Search and enter in the desired college

Quick Q&A!
Q. What does transferable GPA mean?
A. Not all of your credits have an equivalent course offering at the U. Only the courses that will transfer will be evaluated by an Admissions representative to calculate the GPA.
Q. How do I know what courses will transfer?
A. A transfer evaluation will be performed after you submit an application for admissions. But you can see which courses will transfer to the U with Transferology; a tool that allows you to enter in each course you have taken to see if it will transfer to the U or not. If you want to calculator your own transferable GPA please use this calculator and enter in all transferable coursework!
Q. What if I don’t meet the admissions requirements?
A. The University of Utah has a holistic admissions review. Many factors are taken into consideration when admitting a student. Please reach out to an admissions counselor for more information: https://admissions.utah.edu/meet-your-counselors/
