Research Experiences for Undergraduates

The University of Utah offers several research opportunities for undergraduate students, including REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) programs in Physics & Astronomy, Chemistry, and MRSEC (Materials Research, Science and Engineering Center). The Center for Science & Mathematics Education provides support to these REU programs and participating students by:

  • Expanding opportunities for University of Utah students in the Physics & Astronomy and Chemistry REU programs
  • Coordinating joint professional development and social activities for participating students
  • Administering and analyzing surveys to evaluate program impacts on students and mentors
  • Working in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Research
  • Facilitating the application process for the Physics & Astronomy REU program
