Emily leads an array of CSME efforts that relate to faculty community-building, program development, and communications. She manages faculty-focused programming and initiatives such as the Faculty Associates program, CSME Exchanges and Hugo Rossi Lecture series. In this faculty engagement role, she also served as the coordinator for CSME’s 2018-2019 faculty cluster search. Emily developed and directs the College of Science Internship Program, and she collaborates with the CSME Director on the on-going development of new projects and initiatives. Her program development work includes developing and coordinating IRB applications for the CSME team. Emily is involved with survey administration, program data acquisition and analysis, and grant preparation. She also oversees CSME’s public relations and development activities. Emily joined the CSME in 2012 as an Academic Program Manager where she managed several NSF-funded informal science education programs. She transitioned to her current role in 2015.
Emily’s areas of expertise are program development and management, partnership-building, and communications. Although Emily began her career in the wetland ecology field, she transitioned to science education in 2007. She was previously an NSF GK-12 Graduate Teaching Fellow, adjunct faculty at Westminster College, and Education & Outreach Director for a Salt Lake City-based environmental non-profit organization. Emily holds a BS in Biology (University of Virginia) and Master of Science & Technology in Environmental Science (University of Utah).
