HHMI Faculty Fellows
About the UPSTEM Faculty Fellows Program
The UPSTEM HHMI Faculty Fellows program is designed to build leaders at the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College that will implement and promote evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices. UPSTEM Fellows will learn how to enhance learning for students with different backgrounds and preparation levels and gain skills necessary for catalyzing change within their own departments and institutions.
Inclusive Teaching In STEM Resources
Learning Outcomes
UPSTEM Faculty Fellows will be able to:
- Implement evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices in their classrooms
- Become a resource and build capacity in their respective units for inclusive teaching practices and policies
Expectations of UPSTEM Faculty Fellows
- Attend all Faculty Fellows seminars and online sessions throughout the 2020 calendar year.
- Attend a one-day intensive skills-builder workshop (date TBD).
- Work together to develop and implement self-designed projects in their home departments or across colleges and institutions.
Tentative Seminar Dates
3:00-5:30 pm on the following Wednesdays: Jan 22, Feb 19, Mar 18, and Apr 15. Fall semester dates TBD.
Additional online sessions may be scheduled.
The location of the seminars will alternate between the U of U and SLCC campuses.
Eligibility
All Tenured/Tenure Track and Career Line faculty from the College of Science at the University of Utah, and the School of Science, Math and Engineering at Salt Lake Community College are eligible to apply.
