MfA Utah Fellows begin their teaching career assigned to a mentor teacher and supported by a New Teacher Advisor who provide guidance and observation in the classroom. MfA Utah offers numerous professional development workshops and seminars throughout the course of the Fellowship to assist in identifying areas for observation, showcase strategies on how to conduct observations and facilitate discussion with site teachers. In addition, MfA fellows will participate in professional development through the IAS/Park City Mathematics Institute (PCMI).
Selections will be made on the basis of application materials the depth of mathematical knowledge. Selected candidates will be invited to interview with MfA Utah committee members and awards will be announced shortly thereafter. The next MfA Utah cohort will begin their studies in the 2011 summer semester, beginning in May.
Before an application is considered, the applicant must meet or exceed the following criteria:
